SPHERIC 2025

Special Sessions

19th SPHERIC World Conference | 17-19 June | Barcelona
Training Day | 16 June | Barcelona

Four Special Sessions Exploring Cutting-Edge Theme

1. SPH in Aerospace and Maritime Fields

Organizers: Salvatore Marrone & Pengnan Sun
Description: This session brings together experts to discuss the application of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) in aerospace and maritime industries. Topics like sloshing in aircrafts and ships, and aircraft ditching are at the forefront, reflecting rapid technological advancements. Participants will share experiences and insights into using SPH as a reliable tool for innovative engineering solutions

2. Solids Mechanics

Organizers: Tom De Vuyst
Description: Focused on advancing the use of SPH in solid mechanics, this session will explore challenges such as tensile instability and complex boundary conditions in structural interactions. With discussions on the latest SPH developments for impact mechanics and high strain scenarios, it promises a deep dive into solid and structural mechanics through SPH applications.

3. SPH Application in Coastal Engineering

Organizers: Tomohiro Suzuki
Description: This session aims to cover groundbreaking SPH applications in coastal engineering. From traditional wave dynamics to emerging areas like Nature-Based Solutions for coastal protection, it encourages sharing innovative applications and fostering collaborations among experts in the evolving field of coastal engineering.

4. Renewable Energy Engineering Innovations through SPH Modeling

Organizers: Alejandro J. C. Crespo & Bonaventura Tagliafierro
Description: We will welcome contributions that target SPH simulations for renewable energy applications, including floating offshore wind turbines (FOWT), wave energy converters (WEC), hydraulic turbines, or any other device intended to harness renewable energy. By participating in this SS, you will have the opportunity to join our final panel discussion, and to engage – and be engaged – with potential industry and academic professionals who are interested in your research.
